Cab Card

An official registration document carried in a commercial truck that proves it's registered to operate legally across states or provinces.

A cab card is a registration document kept in the truck that shows the vehicle is legally registered to run interstate — including which states or Canadian provinces its apportioned registration covers. It’s essentially the proof that goes with the base plate.

Inspectors can ask to see the cab card, so drivers keep it in the cab at all times. Missing or expired registration paperwork is a common way for a truck to get held up at a weigh station or roadside check.
