Hot Load

An urgent shipment that has to be delivered fast, often paying a premium rate for the priority.

A hot load is freight that needs to move right now — a time-critical delivery where speed is the whole point. Because the customer is willing to pay for that urgency, hot loads often carry a higher rate than routine freight.

For a dispatcher, a hot load means tighter coordination: a driver with available hours, a realistic ETA, and close communication so nothing slips. The urgency and the premium are usually reflected on the rate confirmation.
